ECO Safe Coral Calcium

Coral reefs are considered an endangered species. Using coral from above sea level protects the living reefs. Coral from above the water line is free from the heavy metals and other toxins that industrialized society has dumped into the oceans. Millions of years ago the coral grew under water and has been preserved under layers of soil until mined for coral calcium supplements.

Many manufacturers sell below sea (marine grade) coral that they say is "only the dead coral debris vacuumed up from around the reefs." This is somewhat true, but they use a process called dredging. Dredging the ocean floor around the reefs consists of using huge industrial dredging equipment that not only takes the dead coral debris but destroys the reef ecosystem and the precious animal kingdom that called it home.

It is difficult to not destroy part of an ecosystem without harming the rest. For example, there is more living organisms and creatures that live in a dead tree than a live one. If all of the dead trees were eliminated from a forest, the forest would lose it's vitality. The same is true for coral reefs: the dead coral debris plays an important role in the health of the entire reef.

It is still legal to import below ocean coral to the United States and Canada as long as the originating country approves.

In accordance with the Washington Treaty (a law governing the protection of the living coral reefs), living coral are not harmed in the gathering of the below sea coral.
